The first thing that God has sent us is loved ones. This past Sunday I went to church like normal, but in sacrament meeting I just realized how lucky I am to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and how important it is that we come to church to be with and worship TOGETHER! The night before while I was reading my scriptures, in Mosiah 18:8-9 where it discusses how we should mourn with those that mourn and be willing to carry up one another's burdens. I did not understand it truly at the time until the next day, when a young beehive named Alyssa Anderson stood up to give her talk about friends. While she was preparing to stand up in front of the congregation you could she was so nervous. When she reached the pulpit she broke down and backed away. Fortunately a wonderful good sister named Sister Zeller was giving a talk as well and she noticed that Alyssa needed help.
I have never seen anyone "help" someone give their talk in sacrament meeting, but what intrigued me was the chain of events that followed Sister Zeller's assistance. They began the talk by reading every other paragraph, but soon Alyssa was reading the whole talk and that is when it dawned on me. The reason why we have friends and why we are called to help each other especially in our times of need is because it makes us stronger.
Friends and loved ones are the guardian angels that God gives us so we can see his light even when we feel it is so dark.
Thing 1: God gave us each other to uplift, encourage and love one another.
The second thing that I realized is the importance of love and what it does for us. I was feeling rather down when I came across this quote
Everyone says that loves hurts, but that's not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Everyone confuse these things with love but reality, love is the only thing in this world that covers up all the pain and makes us feel wonderful again. This is when it hit me that love is what life is about. I always felt so frustrated with love because I never really understood it. If it is not an uplifting feeling, then it is not love.
Thing 2: Love only brings happiness.
The last thing I understood was from whom the ultimate love comes from, who is Jesus Christ. I realized that everything I held dearly to me, which is the relationships I hold with other people, is because of him and these relationships have the potential of being eternal. Many people often state that they are so excited to be with their spouse through the eternities, but part of my eternal life would not be complete if I did not spend it with those that helped me to obtain it. That is why I realized how important it is for us to have Christ in our lives and how with Christ everything is happy.
He who has the ultimate love, gave his love to us so we could share ours forever.
Thing 3: God gave his only begotten son Jesus Christ, all because he loved us.
God gave us something to give, someone to give it to and a teacher to show us how to use it.
